The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 Why - on him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed? Nay, but he is a boastful liar!" 25 (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar. 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 How was then My punishment of which they had been warned? 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 32 The people of Lot rejected the warnings. 33 Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak, 34 As a reward from Us; this is how We reward one who gives thanks. 35 He had warned them of Our assault but they disputed the warnings. 36 they even wanted to seduce his guests -- but We blinded them, and said, "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" -- 37 And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning. 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
