The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and continuous shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
