Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
