A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which ye are promised! 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 He is only a man who has invented a lie about God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 [Whereupon the prophet] would say: "O my Sustainer! Succour me against their accusation of lying!" 39 [And God] would say: "After a little while they will surely be smitten with remorse!" 40 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers, etc.). 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 no community can advance or postpone its appointed time, 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a manifest authority 45 To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
