(In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer. 75 And We delivered him and his people from the great distress, 76 And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth] 77 and left for him among the later folk 78 Peace on Noah among all men. 79 Lo! thus do We reward the good. 80 Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves. 81 Afterwards We drowned the others. 82 ۞ And, verily, among those who followed his [Nuh's (Noah)] way (Islamic Monotheism) was Ibrahim (Abraham). 83 When he came to his Lord with a sound heart 84 when he said to his father and his folk, 'What do you serve? 85 A lie-- gods besides Allah-- do you desire? 86 What think you then of the Lord of all Being?' 87 Then he cast a glance at the stars, 88 And said, "I am sick," 89 And they turned their backs and went away from him. 90 He then sneaked upon their deities and said, “Do you not eat?” 91 “What is the matter with you, that you do not say anything?” 92 He struck them with his right hand. 93 Then came the others to him hastening. 94 Said he: What! do you worship what you hew out? 95 And Allah has created you and what you make. 96 They replied: 'Build for him a building and cast him into the fire' 97 (This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated! 98 He said: 'I will go to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous." 100 whereupon We gave him the glad tiding of a boy-child gentle [like himself]? 101 And [one day,] when [the child] had become old enough to share in his [father's] endeavours, the latter said: "O my dear son! I have seen in a dream that I should sacrifice thee: consider, then, what would be thy view!" [Ishmael] answered: "O my father! Do as thou art bidden: thou wilt find me, if God so wills, among those who are patient in adversity!" 102 When they had both submitted to God, and he had laid his son down on his face, 103 We called out to him "O Abraham! 104 You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. 105 Verily that! that was a trial manifest. 106 And We ransomed him with a tremendous sacrifice, 107 And left (his hallowed memory) for posterity. 108 "Peace and salutation to Abraham!" 109 Thus indeed do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 110 Verily he was one of Our believing bondmen. 111 And we gave him tidings of the birth of Isaac, a prophet of the righteous. 112 We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously do wrong, to their own souls. 113
