The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and a few from later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And shade extended 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
