The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 and purify your clothing, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
