He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 to a rich man, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and pious. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We send down abundant water, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olive and palm trees 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
