Couldst thou but see when the culprits shall hang their heads before their Lord, saying: our Lord! we have now seen and heard; so send us back; we shall work righteously, verily we are convinced. 12 And if We had so willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but the word from Me concerning evildoers took effect: that I will fill hell with the jinn and mankind together. 13 So taste [punishment] because you forgot the meeting of this, your Day; indeed, We have [accordingly] forgotten you. And taste the punishment of eternity for what you used to do." 14 Only they believe in Our revelations who, when they are reminded, bow in adoration, and give praise to their Lord, and do not become arrogant. ۩ 15 Their sides shun their couches as they call on their Lord in fear and hope; and they expend of that We have provided them. 16 No soul knoweth what is kept hid for them of joy, as a reward for what they used to do. 17 Would a true believer be like him who was an evil-doer? Surely they are not equal. 18 As for those who believe and do good, the gardens are their abiding-place; an entertainment for what they did. 19 But as for the ungodly, their refuge shall be the Fire; as often as they desire to come forth from it, they shall be restored into it, and it shall be said to them, 'Taste the chastisement of the Fire, which you cried lies to.' 20 And verily We make them taste the lower punishment before the greater, that haply they may return. 21 Who are more unjust than those who are reminded of the revelation of their Lord, but have ignored them? We will take revenge on the criminal. 22
