The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
