a multitude of the ancients, 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 The Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 and a shade of thick, pitch-black smoke, 43 neither cool nor good. 44 They had lived in luxury before this 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 and constantly said: 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be restored to life? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 Fill your bellies with it, 53 Then drink over it of boiling water; 54 Drinking the way thirsty camels drink. 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 It is We who have created you. Why then did you not testify to the Truth? 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 "We are ruined, 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down? 69 [It comes down sweet - but] were it Our will, We could make it burningly salty and bitter: why, then, do you not give thanks [unto Us]? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. 73 Therefor (O Muhammad), praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous. 74

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
