Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions lined up 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
