Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf; 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 He therefore inwardly sensed fear of them; they said, “Do not fear!”; and they gave him the glad tidings of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife drew near vociferating, and smote her face, and said: an old barren woman! 29 They said, "This is true but your Lord has said, (that you will have a son); He is All-wise and All-knowing". 30 ۞ Abraham said: “Envoys (of Allah), what is your errand?” 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 So We brought out from therein the believers. 35 And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 AND IN [the story of Pharaoh and] Moses, too, [We left the same message: for] when We sent him unto Pharaoh with [Our] manifest authority, 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
