Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 and couches raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
