The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and banana trees, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
