Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Verily We! We sent Nuh unto his people saying: warn thy people ere there come unto them torment afflictive. 1 [Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, 2 Worship Allah, and fear Him, and obey me. 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 “I then called them openly.” 8 and preached to them in public, and also addressed them in secret. 9 And I told them: 'Ask your Lord to forgive you. He is verily forgiving. 10 He will send you abundant 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What is the matter with you that you fear not the greatness of Allah? 13 When He created you by (divers) stages? 14 "'See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 God produced you from the earth like a vegetable growth; 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20
