The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
