Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
