Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - 2 half of it, or reduce it a little; 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 Remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking. 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 and food that chokes, and a painful chastisement, 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 Surely this is a Reminder; so let him who will take unto his Lord a way. 19
