'Aad denied the messengers 123 when their brother Hood said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 And gardens and springs. 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
