The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 It will be a place of return 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
