The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
