Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
