And Yunus was most surely of the apostles. 139 He fled to the overloaded ship. 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned: 141 [and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. 142 And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah) 143 he would certainly have remained in its belly till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We caused him to be cast forth on to the beach, sick as he was, 145 And We caused to grow over him a tree, a gourd. 146 And We had sent him to a hundred thousand: rather they exceeded. 147 So they accepted faith – We therefore gave them usage for a while. 148 Now ask them whether your Lord has daughters, whereas they have sons. 149 Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?" 150 It is only because of their false invention that they say, 151 Allah has begotten; and most surely they are liars. 152 Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What is the matter with you that you make such strange judgements? 154 Will you not, then, bethink yourselves? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 Produce, then, that divine writ of yours, if you are speaking the truth! 157 They assert kinship between Him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in Hell). 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 except for God's sincere servants. 160 For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship- 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 except for he who shall roast in Hell. 163 And there is none of us but has an assigned place, 164 we are the rangers, 165 And we are those who sing hallelujas to Him." 166 And indeed the disbelievers used to say, – 167 "If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah). 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know. 170 And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn) 171 That they would certainly be assisted, 172 and that Our army will be triumphant. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 and see them; soon they shall see! 175 Do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 But when it cometh home to them, then it will be a hapless morn for those who have been warned. 177 So turn thou from them for a while, 178 and see; soon they shall see! 179 Your Lord, the Lord of Honor, is too exalted to be considered as they describe Him. 180 And peace be unto the sent ones. 181 And all praise unto Allah the Lord of the worlds. 182
