The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
