The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Will pray for death, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
