and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 From Firaun; he was indeed proud, among the transgressors. 31 And We chose them (the Children of Israel) above the 'Alamin (mankind, and jinns) [during the time of Musa (Moses)] with knowledge, 32 and gave them signs wherein there was a manifest trial. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 'There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived. 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are these better or the people of Tubba and those who went before them? We destroyed them for they were a criminal people. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play. 38 We have created them for a genuine purpose, but most people do not know. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42
