Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 nor any food save the filth 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
