The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And children present [with him] 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
