Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until death approached us". 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
