The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and believes in the finest, 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
