The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it sets: 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 and endowed with wisdom; who in time manifested himself; 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 The heart did not deny, what it saw. (The Holy Prophet was bestowed with seeing Allah – see also preceding verses 8, 9, 10.) 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 "What! For you the males and for Him the females?" 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
