The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Full of power, well-established with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 where then are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
