The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
