The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an. 1 Oft times would those who disbelieve fain that they had been Muslims. 2 Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know. 3 Not one habitation have We destroyed but at the time determined for it. 4 Every nation can only live for the time appointed for it. 5 And they say: "O you (Muhammad SAW) to whom the Dhikr (the Quran) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man. 6 Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?" 7 We send not down the angels, save with truth; 8 then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it. 9 We have sent forth before you Messengers among the factions of the ancients. 10 and not a single Messenger came to them, but they mocked at him; 11 Even so We make a way for it (that is, the Admonition) in the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod); 12 who do not believe in it, although the way which those [evildoers] of olden times had to go has long been within their ken. 13 Had We opened a door for them in the sky through which they could easily pass, 14 They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic." 15
