[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shu'eyb said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 177 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who give less (than the due). 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 and do not deliver short, and do not go about creating mischief in the land, 183 Fear Him who created you and those who have gone before you." 184 They replied: 'You are surely one of those bewitched. 185 "You are but a human being like us and verily, we think that you are one of the liars! 186 Let a part of the sky fall on us if what you say is true". 187 He said, “My Lord is Well Aware of what you do.” 188 In response they denied him – therefore the punishment of the day of the tent* seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them). 189 Surely, in this is indeed a sign; but most of them would not believe: 190 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 191
