Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 And verily it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 Had We revealed it to any one of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 And We did not destroy any town but it had (its) warners, 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 It was not the devils who brought down the Quran: 210 it behoves them not, neither are they able. 211 Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing. 212 So call not thou unto another god along with Allah, lest thou be of the doomed. 213 And warn your tribe (O Muhammad SAW) of near kindred. 214 And be kind to him who follows you of the believers. 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 And rely upon Allah the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 217 who sees thee when thou standest 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They come to every sinful liar. 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them: 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
