Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 and the burden-bearers 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 And those (angels) who distribute (provisions, rain, and other blessings) by (Allah's) Command; 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 Verily, [O men,] you are deeply at variance as to what to believe: 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 They ask, "When will the Day of Judgement come?" 12 It will be on the day when they will be roasted in the fire. 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 Surely the God-fearing will find themselves in the midst of gardens and springs. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
