The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and shade extended, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
