Al-Najm 3 of 3
(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Does he have any knowledge of the world beyond the ken of sense-perception, and therefore, clearly sees (the Truth)? 35 Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses), 36 and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)? 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 and will be fully recompensed for his deeds. 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 And that He is the Lord of the Sirius; 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 and covered them with torment. 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 What is to come is imminent. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
