The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
