At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
