(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
