Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
