We indeed created man; and We know what his soul whispers within him, and We are nearer to him than the jugular vein. 16 When the two (angels) who keep the account, one sitting on the right, one on the left, take it down, 17 not even a word can he utter but there is a watcher with him, ever-present. 18 And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that is what you were trying to avoid. 19 And the Horn will be blown. That is the Day of [carrying out] the threat. 20 Every soul will be accompanied (by an angel) behind him and another as a witness. 21 (And unto the evil-doer it is said): Thou wast in heedlessness of this. Now We have removed from thee thy covering, and piercing is thy sight this day. 22 And his companion, [the angel], will say, "This [record] is what is with me, prepared." 23 "Cast into Hell every ungrateful, rebellious one, 24 who is an opponent of good, a suspicious transgressor 25 “The one who appointed another God along with Allah – so both of you fling him into the severe punishment.” 26 ۞ His [devil] companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not make him transgress, but he [himself] was in extreme error." 27 [And] He will say: "Contend not before Me, [O you sinners,] for I gave you a forewarning [of this Day of Reckoning]. 28 The Sentence that comes from Me cannot be changed, and I am not unjust (to the least) to the slaves." 29
