The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
