The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
