And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
