Thamud (people) belied the Messenger. 141 When their brother Saleh said to them: "Will you not take heed?" 142 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 143 so fear God and obey me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 Will you be left secure in this here, 146 "Gardens and Springs, 147 and cornfields and date-palms laden with juicy fruits? 148 And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill. 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 Do not obey the order of the wasteful, 151 and spread mischief in the land rather than set things right." 152 They said: thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 you are no different from a mortal like us. So produce a sign if you are truthful." 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel; it has a right to drink (water), and you have a right to drink (water) (each) on a day, known. 155 Do not molest her lest the chastisement of an Awesome Day should seize you." 156 So they hamstrung her, and in the morning could only regret. 157 And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159
