The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
