A large group from the earlier generations. 39 And a multitude from the later generations. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And the shade of black smoke, 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 They had been affluent before, 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 And they used to say, “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we surely be raised again?” 47 and perhaps, too, our forebears of old?" 48 Say: 'The ancients, and the later folk 49 shall be gathered together to the appointed time on a known Day' 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 shall eat the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 "And drink boiling water on top of it, 54 Lapping it up like female camels raging of thirst with disease." 55 This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom. 56 It is We Who created you, so why do you not accept the truth? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated. 60 That We may substitute others like unto you and produce you into that which ye know not. 61 And indeed, you have already known the first form of creation (i.e. the creation of Adam), why then do you not remember or take heed? 62 Just ponder over what you sow: 63 Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it? 64 If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder, 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 Have you considered the water you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 We could make it brackish, if We pleased; so why do you not acknowledge thanks? 70 Have you considered the fire you kindle? 71 Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74
